At Contemporary Art Awards, we believe every artist deserves the support they need to thrive. Mentoring offers one‑on‑one guidance to help emerging artists gain clarity, strengthen their practice, and confidently take the following steps in their careers.

Sky's the limit — areas where you can gain help include:

  • Refining your artist statements, CVs, and biographies

  • Overcoming fears and doubts around your creative journey

  • Developing concepts and bringing them to life through your art

  • Organising and planning creative projects with structure and focus

  • Receiving practical guidance and encouragement as you grow as an art practitioner

Mentoring sessions are available via Zoom, (a link will be sent via email) making it easy to connect wherever you are. Our goal is to provide a supportive space where you can build skills, expand knowledge, and feel empowered to achieve your artistic ambitions.

About Julie Rees

Julie Rees Art

Why Initiate Mentoring

Lack of access to mentoring support for emerging artists is a significant issue nationwide. Mentoring programs offered in places like universities and arts councils are very competitive and as a result, many aspiring artists miss out on opportunities for extra guidance and assistance. Research suggests that mentoring, both in a formal and informal capacity is already a significant part of delivery for independent artists (Arts Queensland 2010). Therefore, artists can benefit from these experiences when building their art careers.
